English-Spanish Translation Service FAQ
English to Spanish and Spanish to English translation services
I would like to offer you my translation service between Spanish and English. We specialize in Mexican Spanish and American English. We also have a good understanding of British English too. I personally do the translations from Spanish to English (my native language), and I have a team of native Spanish speakers who have proven their English competency to help me with English to Spanish translations.
Where are we located?
We are located in Mexico City, Mexico. Mexico city is also called Mexico D.F. because Distrito Federal (Federal District) is the name of the political entity similar to Washington D.C. in the U.S..
Why hire me/us?
I have been teaching English as a second language since February 2001. I have lived here since January 2001, I have only been out of the country for a week and a half when my brother got married in 2005. My English skills haven't suffered since I teach it. My Spanish skills are practiced everyday. Additionally, being in Mexico city, we are exposed to people from many parts of the world including Spain, The United Kingdom, and other parts of Latin America, so we are familiar with other Spanish dialects. While a translator in the United States might have to use a dictionary to find a translation, we can also just go and check. If I don't know how to say Emergency room, I can go visit a hospital too!
Where did I learn English?
I was born in Iowa. I, of course, had English classes until I graduated. I lived in Iowa growing up, and I lived in Texas for three years before moving to Mexico City. I keep in contact with my family by e-mail.
How do I send a document?
You can send us the document via e-mail or through a service like DHL or UPS. We recommend sending and receiving documents by e-mail to save the expense and the time lost in shipping.
How do I receive the finished translation?
We'll send you the finished translation by e-mail to whichever e-mail address you prefer. We can send it to you in Microsoft Word, Plain Text, or Adobe Acrobat format. We can even send it to you in an e-book format!
How do I pay for the translation? My company doesn't have an office in Mexico City!
No problem. Once a cost is determined you can either
1. Pay by bank transfer using our 18 digit bank code called 'clabe' The bank will automatically convert the currency for you.
2. Pay online with your credit card or with your PayPal account.
I have an office in Mexico City. What are my other payment options?
You could go to the bank with has our account and pay directly using our account number, pay in cash at our office after making an appointment, or use one of the international payment methods.
How much is it?
Our flat rate is 200 Mexican pesos for 220 words. The exchange rate is approx. 11 pesos to 1 dollar. We offer discounts on large documents if there is no hurry. You probably can find a cheaper service, but you won't have the same quality. We take the time we need to do good translations, not quick computer translations or literal word by word translations that make you wish you were reading the original!
I need my translation ....yesterday! What can I do?
E-mail us the document and I will let you know how fast I can do it and at what cost. There is normally an additional fee since I would have to cancel classes and delay other translations to do yours!
What kind of translations can you do?
I can translate business documents, business contracts, accounting and fiscal documents, letters, essays and reports, stories, and scripts. My most recent translation was a 50+ page translation to English of an accountant's analysis of transfer pricing. Do not ask for more details. My clients' documents are confidential.
