Many non count nouns refer to a category or class. The category or class is made up of individuals which fit. It could be a mass of almost identical particles or elements. They can be measured by using containers and units of measurement. 1 spoonful, 2 bottles of ..,etc |

Some non count nouns are abstract ideas (concepts). They are not physical. |
Joe has brown hair. Jim has a hair on his coat. |
Many nouns will change from count to non count depending on the idea. |
