Verbs can be transitive, intransitive, or both. It can be very useful to know which a verb is because it helps improve your writing. Most good dictionaries will label verbs as being transitive (V.T.) or Intransitive (V.I.).

- Transitive = verb + object
- We eat pizza.
- She made investments.
- He rang the church tower bells.
- Intransitive = verb (no object)
- We feel great!
- It went well.
- The telephone rang three times.
