- The temple priests work by themselves to pray for a good harvest.
- I am not a baby so I bathe myself.
Relative pronouns are normally used to show or emphasize that something was done without aid or assistance.
- I drove myself to work.
In the above sentence, the speaker is telling us that he or she had no help in driving to work.
- She wrote the book by herself.
In the above sentence, we are told that she wrote the book without any help.
